About this artist
Boyd Dymchuk is a ceramic artist from Edmonton, Alberta who uses intuitive handbuilding techniques to create figurative and functional pieces. He is best known for his sculptures of animals, which he imbues with distinctive character. Whether he is depicting an exotic animal, a common house pet, or a professional wrestler, Boyd’s sculptures share an eccentric, otherworldly quality. Exaggerated features and unexpected proportions, patterns, and textures are all hallmarks of Boyd’s work. His sculptures have been included in group exhibitions throughout Edmonton and he enjoys sharing his creations with the world. In 2020, he received the Changed Life Award in celebration of the impact that artmaking has had on him outside the studio. Boyd worked with fellow Nina artist Aaron Harvey on a joint exhibition titled Wavy
Dimension for the Art Gallery of Alberta in 2024.
