Cheryl Anhel has been painting since she was seven years old. Since coming to The Nina, she has become an accomplished painter, often employing the circle motif, which for her represents happiness. She has exhibited in several solo, duo and group shows and has expanded her practice into the area of printmaking. In describing her process, she says, “I print three times for each picture. Carve, then first colour, carve more and second colour, carve more and last color. I start with a face but the picture gets more abstract as I carve.”
Always willing to try new forms of art, Cheryl had a part in the puppet performance, Crowns, Crooks and Cowboys.
