Akineskamowin, Journey | Meskanahk Ka Nipa Wit Students

OPENING RECEPTION: Wednesday, May 30th , 2018 7-9 p.m.

Akineskamowin, Journey, features the work of 20 junior high students from Meskanahk Ka Nipa Wit School, Montana First Nation. Photographs taken by the students were used to create the book, Akineskamowin, Journey, and will also be featured in a photography exhibition at the Nina Haggerty Gallery, Edmonton, AB.

Together, through the eyes of Meskanahk Ka Nipa Wit School youth, we deepen our understanding of the beliefs and values that make them who they are as Cree people. Using photography, students highlight the strength within and around them. Students combine their images and text to identify who they are.
In their own words “WE MADE THIS BOOK TO SEE AND BE SEEN”
