About the job
Responsibilities:
Event management
- Planning and implementation of Nina events including but not limited to:
- Nina’s annual fundraising gala and awards event
- Annual Patron’s luncheon
- Art exhibit openings
- Christmas Party and art sale
- Taste and Tours
- Annual AGM
Event Fundraising
- Soliciting auction items for annual fundraising event, ticket sales (including raffle sales), seeking sponsorship support
- Attract and develop new relationships with potential event sponsors, 3rd party fundraisers, program sponsors and donors
- Support CEO with donor recognition, maintaining relationships with sponsors, 3rd party fundraisers, as required
- Maintain applicable event/donor databases
Volunteer management
- Recruitment, screening, placement and orientation of volunteers
- Management of internships (e.g. student placements), including supervision and reporting
- Ensuring sufficient volunteer participation at events and fundraising activities, as required
- Ensuring gallery is staffed with volunteers for out of office hours
Volunteer Administration
- Management of volunteer database, tracking of volunteer hours and providing statistical reports to the CEO on a quarterly basis
- Management of raffles and casinos, including application for licenses, ensuring that reports are accurate and completed in a timely manner
Internal/External Communication
- Open two-way communication with the CEO
- Positive open communication with board members, volunteers and Nina staff
- Positive open communication with all external contacts (sponsors, donors, patrons, 3rd party fundraisers, funders, public)
Our Ideal Candidate Has:
Education:
- Minimum post-secondary degree or diploma, preferred designation in arts management, event management, management, marketing, communications, public relations or business
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
Experience:
- Preferred 3 – 5 years in event management
- Preferred staff or volunteer management experience
- Marketing and/or sales experience is an asset
- Experience in a not-for-profit environment an asset
Required competencies/knowledge/skills/abilities:
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Self-starter with strong attention to detail
- Proven success with managing events and volunteers
- Excellent organizational, critical thinking, planning and problem-solving skills
- Networking and relationship building expertise with individuals and service providers
Job Details
- Job Title: Event and Volunteer Manager
- Location(s): Edmonton
- Status: 30 hours weekly
- $45,000/yr – $48,000/yr
- Reports to: CEO
- Travel: Minimal – travel within Edmonton – vehicle and license required
- Physical Environment: Some lifting, event set up required
